Lady Confidence - founder of WAF DIS

I rolled into the fetish scene because of my wonderful husband, with whom I’m still discovering the fetish and kink landscape with various roles, levels and experiences. I’m into puppyplay as a handler since 2019.

In the beginning we were just following the crowd. We learned about the bright side of our community. After a while I came across my first struggle: I’m a cis woman and straight. People gave me looks or told me I shouldn’t take part in puppyplay. It didn’t take long before I felt excluded. But it didn’t stop me. I fought my way through it and eventually ‘earned’ my place as a well-respected member.

I’m both a mommy and big sister by heart. I care about everyone and will always worry about another first. Next to that I’m very protective. Hurt the people I care about and I’ll be there to have a chat with you. People in my near circle don’t have to look over their shoulder for feeling unsafe, because they will see me there. I can’t protect the entire world, but I can be there for those I can reach.

In my journey I came in contact with people who felt excluded in any kind of way and were unable to fight by themselves.  They searched far and wide for an ally and friend only to find it returning home. Their personal stories made me go for the election of Handler Belgium 2024, where I gained the title of 1st runner up.

It was a sign that our community is in need of a mindset change and ready to work on inclusivity step by step. Gaining this immense boost, I was more motivated than ever to keep up the work and talk to even more people. Doing so, the seed that would later grow into WAF DIS was planted.

Later I discovered the need for someone to step up and make work of inclusivity and awareness about the consequences of exclusion was higher than expected. I decided to think of a way to provide sensibilisation, first aid and pro-active actions.

Doing so, I came to a couple very important values: feeling welcome, being accepted, allow everyone to have the same opportunities, embrace diversity, make sure everyone feels part of it and making sure everyone feels safe to do so. Shortening the words into welcoming, accepting, for all, diverse, inclusive safe space or in letters: W – A – F – D – I – S.
